“Ready! Set! Go!” called out the Starter and everyone was off. I pedalled hard to try and secure myself in a good position for the rest of the race. It was a hot summer’s morning and I had my eyes set on winning the Golden Bike Trophy. I was in 3rd place with two laps to go. “This is good,” I thought “I’ll make my move just before the final sprint.” This was it, the final lap! I got out of my saddle and began to pedal. I passed 2nd place. 1st place was only centimetres away. “I’ve done it!”

I love your story. My faviourite part is when at the begining you said “Ready! Set! Go! and near the end you said 1st place was only centimetres away. You could really become a writer.

Jamison,
We learned a new way to spell cm. We liked that the storyline was about a race. We liked the detail about the golden trophy.
Keep writing.

Very nice use of details to set the scene (hot summer’s morning). The internal thoughts and the detail (pedaling hard instead of just pedaling) make it come alive. Very nice!
