“Hello? Hello, can anybody hear me?” questioned Karen, lost amongst a massive herd of grazing horses.

“Did you hear something, Phil?” asked one of the horses. “Nope. Why did you hear something, Fred?” he responded. “I just thought I heard someone yelling. Maybe it was one of the stallions eating really loudly? Who knows, because there are way too many of us in this packed field.” They both went back to nibbling the grass.

Karen was getting more and more scared and wondered what to do because she knew her herd could be miles away by now in such a big savannah. She yelled for help again, and again, but all the horses around her were deaf to her cries for help.

It got dark and Karen was exhausted from walking around and trying to find her family. She became more and more afraid of what might happen to her next, so she yelled again. “Help, please anyone!” This time, Phil heard her easily, because he was much closer to her.

Phil walked towards the voice and found a sad zebra sitting on the ground. He asked her, “Are you alright?” “No, I’m lost and I can’t find my herd,” responded Karen in a tearful voice.
Phil felt sorry for the poor lonely zebra. “Let me see”, he replied. “I think I saw a zebra herd not long ago, but you probably couldn’t see them because you are so small. Here, come with me and let’s find your family.”

So Phil walked with Karen and together they found her herd. When they arrived, Phil realised how it felt not to blend in. He realised how hard it had been for Karen and felt sad that she had experienced that all day.
