My brother, Ethan, was playing Lego outside, but I wanted to play footy. I kicked the ball and it landed straight on top of the Lego house he’d built. Ethan screamed at me and made me build it again near the pine tree. I stepped on something and thousands of red and black ladybugs came up from the ground and invaded the Lego building. I coughed, choked and struggled to breathe because of the toxic dust on their wings. Ethan ran to Mum, who brought my Ventolin inhaler. We went inside and as my breathing settled, we watched them fly away.

Hi Tyson,
Great story! This is the most creative interpretation of the prompt picture I’ve read yet- well done. I can relate to Ethan in this story. I used to find it very frustrating when my sister would break my LEGO creations! I especially liked the part when the main character “stepped on something and thousands of red and black ladybugs … invaded the LEGO building”. This was a really powerful image because of the size of the ladybugs relative to the house. You painted a frightening picture of a house being swarmed by monsters even though ladybirds are thought of as rather gentle insects- very well done. Keep up the good work.
