My mum and dad took me to my best friend’s birthday party. I knew there would be dangerous reptiles and we’d play soccer with a balloon.
When I arrived, I went straight to my friend and said, “Happy Birthday!” and gave him his awesome present. The reptile man blew his whistle and everyone walked to the nature zone. I had never been in a nature zone before, so it felt very frightening.
Soon, it was my turn to hold the brown snake and as I touched it, it dropped onto my foot, and I kicked it right onto Birthday Boy.

Kia Ora Tyler. I really enjoyed reading your story about a very interesting birthday party! The first thing I noticed about your writing was your excellent punctuation and spelling. Well done, I can see you’ve paid attention to the ‘pauses’ in your writing. I especially like how you’ve described the feeling of being new to a Nature Zone.
